And we were off! We went later in the morning because we weren't going for celebrity fastpasses that day. I swear we parked in the second to last row. Now that I am on a quest for fitness, I have stopped taking the tram. We walked all the way, it wasn't so bad and it takes less time than the tram! The park was really packed (but not as packed as May 20, 2011!) so we found a spot on the curb and waited for the parade. People, of course, came up and asked us to move over so they could fit without saying "please" and they totally invaded our personal space. We had children in wheelchairs behind us kicking our backs for a bit but I think at least the parents noticed and made them stop. Sigh. Oh well, it was totally worth it and we had a spectacular view of the entire parade!
After the meet, we all went to Darth's Mall together. I made a beeline for the HerUniverse section, I had my eye on an awesome new tote bag!
One day I will buy some art in here. Maybe next year!
Back outside we ran into more friends from Facebook! I LOVE bumping into people I'm friends with on Facebook but haven't met in real life yet!! Especially when they also spell their name S-H-E-L-L-E-Y!! I also got a chance to show off my new tote bag!
We were starving by then so we said goodbye to our friends and went over to the Commissary for lunch. We also met up with the gang from Studios Central but I didn't take any pictures! I must have been hungry! I had to take a picture of this Once Upon a Time poster outside though :) I love this show!!
In an effort to be sort of healthy, I got the turkey sandwich kids meal. It would have been better if the sandwich had cheese and mayo. It was a bit bland and dry. I loved the yogurt and carrot sticks though!
Jason had the burger which he said was the standard burger they serve everywhere.
I also got a Darth Vader cupcake to take home. I came prepared with a tall tupperware container and it fit perfectly! This cupcake did NOT look like the pristine photos I have seen. They had them sitting in the food service area and the servers were grabbing them, stuff was falling on them and none of them looked like the blog photos I had seen.
I had every intention of cutting this cupcake into 4 pieces and eating it slowly over a few days. When we got home, I ended up eating the whole thing! I think that it has the same mousse frosting that they use for the wedding cakes. It tasted like it had a hint of peanut butter and caramel...mmm delicious. This will not be the only cupcake I get during Star Wars Weekends 2012!
We had planned to go back on Sunday but when I woke up, my sunburn from the previous day was absolutely throbbing. I thought I had put on sunscreen but apparently the spray was just compressed air. I only took a picture of my knees because my shoulders were almost purple. I didn't want to disgust people!
Oh well, lesson learned. I am equipped with my flippin awesome fabulous derby hat for next weekend! Yes, it's the same hat that I wore from Star Wars Weekends 2011! I usually take skin care very seriously and I think I was just so excited that I didn't take my own advice this weekend. It will take a long time for my skin to get used to the Florida sun!
We did not have a chance to see any of the shows over at the Premier Theater or Hyperspace Hoopla but that is all on our schedule for next weekend! Stay tuned :)
