Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today: Take a Good Look

The Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today is a series of short inspirational videos, stories, assignments, or quotes that I hope will inspire you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be every single day.

Today's story comes to you from...ME (again)!

Recently I had the chance to spend a girls' night with my Bestie, Amy. We both like to take pictures and we both blog about our adventures as Disney Residents. We could have spent the evening taking pictures of us having fun but instead we made a conscious effort to put our phones away and really enjoyed our time together. It allowed us to take a good look around and really appreciate all the good things in life. This photo is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen in my entire life and I am so glad I got to share it with such a quality friend :)

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today: Help the Handicapped

The Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today is a series of short inspirational videos, stories, assignments, or quotes that I hope will inspire you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be every single day.

Today's inpirational story comes to you from...ME!

On a recent visit to the Magic Kingdom, Jason and I parked at the Transportation and Ticket Center and took the Ferry over. It was, of course, packed with people so we hung back a bit and got off the boat almost last. There was a lady in a wheelchair and the way the exit is laid out from the Ferry really isn't the best for the handicapped. There are no open spaces and they have to open a little gate to get through. So, I rushed to get in front of her so I could open the gate for her. She smiled at me and said "Thank you, that is so nice of you!" I love being able to make someone's day that much  more magical :)

Star Wars Weekends 2012: Wrap Up

The one thing you learn when you are a local here is that you absolutely cannot run at a vacation pace all the time. I had planned to go to all 4 Star Wars Weekends and stand in line early in the morning to get autographs. But the reality is that work comes first and I have been putting in some hours on the weekends to keep up with everything. I was just too tired to put in a full day during Weekend 3.

Jason and I went to Stars of the Saga during Weekend 3 to see Jake Lloyd. I began filming the show but our seats were not good AND stupid me forgot to upload the videos from the previous weekend so I had NO SPACE left for any more videos or pictures :( What a bummer! It was a good show but nothing compared to seeing Anthony Daniels in Stars of the Saga in 2011.

I couldn't go to Star Wars Weekend #4 because I had a business trip and I was using the opportunity to spend the weekend with my parents in VA. I was super bummed because Jeremy Bulloch was there that weekend but thinking back on it I wonder how early I would have had to get there for his autograph? I'll bet I would have had to get there around 2 or 3 AM!

I also never saw Hyperspace Hooplah at all during Star Wars Weekends 2012. It was basically the same show as last year and the crowds were INSANE. I know people who lined up 2 hours before for a good spot. I guess I am spoiled because I am accustomed to visiting Walt Disney World during value season and so I am not accustomed to waiting very long for things. And, of course, people who wait for hours are always pushed out of the way by rude people who muscle their way into their spot 5 minutes before the show. Last year I found a great spot that Jason and I were pleased with. As the show started, a father right in front of us put his kid on his shoulders. Ugh, I couldn't hardly see anything. Not to mention the fact that the girl next to him had her iPhone up over her head taking pictures the whole time. Get the picture? We just weren't interested in going through all of that again, I can catch the show on YouTube.

Next year, I hope to have a press pass so I can get some better photos and videos. I may also plan some vacation time around Star Wars Weekends so I can go on Fridays when the crowds are lighter. I did have a great time even though I did not get any celebrity autographs. I met and shared experiences with new friends and that is more than enough for me :)

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today: My Happy Place

The Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today is a series of short inspirational videos, stories, assignments, or quotes that I hope will inspire you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be every single day.

Today's inspirational photo is from the Ferryboat at the Transportation and Ticket Center!

Whenever I am having a stressful day, I like to take a break, close my eyes, and visualize a perfect happy place. This photo is definitely one of them. It is from a few weeks ago when I had a horrible week at work and my husband suggested we spend a night at the Magic Kingdom so I could de-stress.  It was the perfect thing for me and it really did the trick! The sun was setting and there weren't many people on the Ferryboat. This memory will live forever in my mind :)

Star Wars Weekends 2012: Weekend 2 Sunday

Continuing my Star Wars Weekends 2012 Saga, for weekend 2 Jason and I wanted to try to get an autograph from Ray Park. We woke up at Dark Thirty O'Clock and hightailed it over to Hollywood Studios. We got in line at 5:30AM.

The Castmembers were awesome and they came around to keep us entertained. The music started playing around 6AM, I just love hearing Star Wars music at Hollywood Studios! They did unfortunately warn us that we were very far back in the line and the chances of us getting a wrist band for Ray Park was minimal. Oh well, I was on a mission and I was going to stay no matter what! They began handing out wrist bands and Jason and I got standby only, oh well. Jason wanted to go home but I wanted to stay. I ended up staying all day by myself and I love spending time in the parks alone. I always meet the best people! This day turned out to be fantastic for me.

I caught the entire opening show on video, enjoy!

For standby celebrity fastpasses, you have to go to the autograph sessions and hope that you can get in. I had a few hours before Ray Park's first autograph session so I went to Darth's Maul for some shopping. I really wish I had been able to buy more in here!

It would have been cool if I could have done the Carbonite Freeze deal but I actually thought it was a bit overpriced for what you got. Plus, I really didn't want my head on Han Solo's body, it would be better if they did the person's entire body so it was more realistic. I was very interested in doing this until I found out that the bodies were all the same. Um, I would look really weird with my head on a man's body.

After that I went character hunting! I stood in line for Princess Leia Minnie but instead I got Jedi Mickey which was absolutely fine with me!!!

After my Jedi training session with Mickey, I hightailed it over to Echo Lake to sit, wait, and hope that they were taking standby passes for Ray Park. I ended up chatting up a nice couple from California and we became fast friends! We talked for hours and it really helped to pass the time because they did not take any standby passes during that autograph session. We were told to come back to the second autograph session which was to be held in Darth's Maul because a storm was coming. Sigh, I had a few more hours to kill!

I got myself a coke slushie in the R2 mug. I'm glad I have it but it is made quite cheaply and the lid fell off numerous times that day. I also saw the same thing happening to others so just beware if you buy one!

I went back to Darth's Maul and just hung around there for a few hours. Here's a little inspiration for future little Benhoffs :)

When the time came for Ray Park's second autograph session, I was the first in the standby queue. I stood with all the friends I had made earlier that day and I heard all about their previous Star Wars Weekend adventures and got some really good tips for next time. We had great fun laughing and joking with the Castmembers who were working the event. I did manage a few pictures, I was standing just a few feet away from Ray Park!

We stood there the whole time trying to be optimistic but as time went on it was pretty obvious that we were not going to get to meet Ray Park. When he got ready to leave I got to watch as he hugged every single Castmember that was working. He thanked every one of them as well, it was really nice to see such a big celebrity have so much humility. I had my Star Wars Weekends poster out hoping he might sign as he walked by. He looked right at me and said "I'm sorry love, I've got to go but you can catch me after the show and I will sign it." He was very sincere and I know that he really did want to get to every individual but he just didn't have the time. I completely understood. But, I was way too tired to stay for his show at the Premier Theater. So, I said goodbye to my new friends and went back home.

I may not have gotten the celebrity experience that I wanted, but I did not leave empty handed that day. I made new friends and memories with them that will last a lifetime :)

Star Wars Weekends 2012: Weekend 2 Saturday

Continuing my Star Wars Weekend 2012 Saga, this is the story of my adventures for weekend 2, May 25 - 27, 2012! Of course, I work on Fridays so I always skip that day. But, for weekend 2 I had 2 very full days on Saturday and Sunday. It was full of geeky awesomeness and more new friends!

On Saturday we planned to go only to see A Visit to the Maul with Ray Park. After the sunburn fiasco of the previous week, I made sure I had my very fine hat for this weekend!

I'm adding to my collection of Star Wars Weekends Maps!

We got in line about an hour early and got a fantastic seat front and center!

I captured the entire show on video. It was a very good show and we loved every minute! I especially loved the part where he spoke about believing in yourself. That really hit home for me and I appreciated the reminder.
